| スマートウォッチ「Google Pixel Watch」に2023年10月分のソフトウェア更新が提供開始！Wear OS 4へのOSバージョンアップを含む |
既報通り、Googleは7日（現地時間）、スマートフォン（スマホ）など向けプラットフォーム「Android」やスマートウォッチ向け「Wear OS」などにおける月次セキュリティーパッチの2023年10月分を告示しました。その後、同社は18日（現地時間）、この2023年10月分のセキュリティーパッチを含むソフトウェア更新を「Made by Google」として「Pixel」ブランドで展開しているスマートウォッチ「Pixel Watch」に対して同日より提供開始したとお知らせしています。
ソフトウェア更新はネットワーク経由（OTA）によって行われ、次の週にかけて順次提供され、対象機種はWear OS 3.5を搭載した「Pixel Watch」のすべてのモデルとなっており、このソフトウェア更新によってWear OSの最新バージョン「Wear OS 4」へのOSバージョンアップも行われるということです。更新後のビルド番号は日本向け製品を含めてグローバルで「TWD4.231005.002」。
なお、更新によってセキュリティーアップデートやWear OS 4へのOSバージョンアップに加え、さまざまな新機能の追加や電池持ちの改善、パフォーマンスの向上、多数の不具合の修正などが行われており、例えば、出荷時設定にリセットすることなく、Pixel Watchを新しいスマホに簡単に移行できるようになったり、バックアップと復元によって古いPixel Watchからデータと設定を安全にバックアップできるようになるため、すべてのデータや設定、ウォッチフェイスを維持したまま新しいPixel Watchシリーズに移行可能になるなどしているということです。
Pixel WatchはGoogleが自社ブランドとして初めて投入したスマートウォッチで、Googleが開発を進めるスマートウォッチ向けプラットフォームのWear OSのVersion 3.5（WearOS 3.5）をプリインストールし、Google マップやGmail、Google アシスタント、YouTube Musicなどの各種Googleサービスが利用できるほか、Google傘下のFitbitによる健康＆フィットネス機能に対応しています。
また日本でもようやくスマートウォッチ向けに解禁された決済サービス「Google Pay」にも対応し、非接触IC機能「NFC」や「FeliCa」によるかざす決済／タッチ決済が利用でき、日本ではSuicaなどに対応しています。他にもメッセージや通知、緊急SOS、国際緊急通話に対応し、さらに発売後に転倒検出（最大32重力加速度）にも対応しました。なお、現時点において日本ではECG（心電図）機能は利用できません。
そんなPixel Watchですが、すでに紹介しているようにPixelスマホと同様にセキュリティー更新などを含むソフトウェア更新を毎月提供することを案内しており、現行機種については発売日から3年間となる2025年10月までソフトウェア更新が提供されることになっています。
Wear OSの更新方法はPixel Watchにて「設定」→「システム」→「システムアップデート」を選んで画面の指示に従って行います。ビルド番号はPixel Watchにて「設定」→「システム」→「デバイス情報」→「バージョン」にて確認可能です。なお、Googleが案内しているPixel Watchの2023年10月分における変更点は以下の通りとなっています。
